Several charitable organisations have sections or divisions specialising in specifically providing support during emergencies and disasters. Some are readily recognisable and well known. However, many are not. In fact, the general public would be surprised at the number of organisations, which have put up their hands - in advance - to support the community during the most adverse times when disasters strike.

If you cannot join an emergency service, then consider joining these types of organisations. Every bit helps.

Disaster Response and Recovery Related Charities
Police Related Charities
Many police-oriented charities provide emotional and financial support to the partners and children of deceased police officers. This might include on-going assisting with grief and trauma counseling; managing children's trust funds; and, raising funds to provide a range of educational and social activities for their members. In essence, these charities give support to families of those who have literally given their all in support and protection of the community. Some police associated charities also support outreach and community service programs.
How about some of your support in return!
