With regard to any warning devices, it is the purchaser's and/or the end-user’s responsibility to fit and use such devices responsibly within the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction where the device is fitted or used.
While Code2 Australia Pty. Ltd. will never knowingly sell a client illegal equipment, ultimately, it is the end-user who needs to ensure they comply with legislation and regulation.
Code2 Australia Pty. Ltd. will only provide quotations and supply devices of particular colours to authorised end users.
Clarification was sought by Code2 on the use of flashing white lights on vehicles in NSW. As at the 6th May 2011, the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) advised us that Vehicle Standards Regulation prohibited flashing white lights (either singularly or in combination with other colours) from being fitted in or on any part of a vehicle used on a road related area unless expressly permitted by the RTA. It is not the device's use which attracts a defect notice, it is the fitment (breach of Vehicle Standards). Illegally using flashing lights is a separate offence.
Document "VSI 8" is available from the RTA website and mostly explains the regulation with regards to the Vehicle Standard. However, we still suggest you should seek appropriate advice.
With regard to other jurisdictions, it is strongly recommended advice from the relevant regulatory authority be sought.
